Merry Christmas!

Guess who is late again this year with sending out Christmas cards?  You will be happy to know that I have been busy in the studio preparing works for my spring shows.  InSight and Legacy Gallery are currently having their Holiday Small Works shows right now.  Below are a few drawings and paintings available if you are still looking for that something special to hang on your wall.

2015 in Review
This summer was certainly eventful.  We had wildfires to deal with in August, windstorms blowing off barn roofs, water-lines breaking, and even Franklin rolling my suburban a week before school started (thank God his guardian angel was watching over him as he walked away without a scratch).  Bob and the boys even had time to break several fillies before the boys went back to school in the fall.  This year Bob finished out his term as officer and president of the TSGRA; we had our 100th annual TSGRA celebration in Kerrville at the YO Hotel Resort.  We even had a "horseless goat roping" at the celebration; and yes, it is loads of fun!  I had to sneak in a picture of my mom with our good friend, Lorelei Hankins...watching the goat roping.
Franklin is a Junior in High School and recently was inducted into the National Honor Society.  Dalton is a freshman at Angelo State University and is on the ASU Collegiate Wool Judging Team.  Our oldest, Robert, is currently enrolled in the TCU Ranch Management Program in Ft. Worth.  All in all, with all of the different activities including art shows, we had a little time to get-away to the river for some R&R.

From my family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Fall Art Shows

It is that time again for my fall art shows.  I have some exciting new works to show you, so come on over to the gallery or plan on attending one of these shows listed below.  Some new drawings and this oil painting titled, Dapple Dan, are at InSight Gallery in Fredericksburg.  I would love to see you at the reception and Friday Night Artwalk if you are wanting to take a drive Friday, Sept. 4th, from 6-8 pm.

Because I have been blessed with quite a few recent sales, it is crunch time for me in my studio as I am tasked with  increasing my inventory and also with meeting deadlines for my spring art shows.  Thank you so much for your continued support.

Summer Stampede

Our spring has slowly morphed into a hot summer and the Buchholz bunch has been busy. This year Mother Nature thankfully provided a bountiful crop of apricots, peaches and plums. It is a family affair when it comes to canning and freezing what the good Lord provides. So far, we have canned over 250 pounds of apricot jam and have frozen around 220 pounds...The plums will be tackled next week. Our friends are always on call with their ice chests at the ready to take some home. We have a good many fruit trees, and it has been several years since we have had such a bumper crop. Very little goes to waste as the frugal German-ways leak out of my husband, but we do begrudgingly share a few with the birds and gnats.

The kids and I just returned from 4-H State Round Up in College Station, Texas. I coach a couple of teams and we ended up placing 4th in Wool Judging and 5th in Mohair. We didn't advance to Nationals like I had hoped, and I'm starting to think my teams are jinxed at State as we have placed 1st year after year in many of the 4-H contests before and leading up to State. We will try again next year with my youngest, Franklin, and his teammate, Sierra, and hopefully some new recruits. I will surely miss the 5 kids that just graduated including my middle son, Dalton. It has given me great joy to coach these kids over the years and to watch them grown into fine young men and young ladies. I wish them the best and hope that they can one day give back to their community through 4-H. Here they are in front of the new Hildebrand Equine Complex at TAMU. There is some very nice western artwork inside this building if you want to check it out one day.

It seems that with my kids' busy schedule and having two graduating seniors (Robert -Tarleton and Dalton -Eldorado High) that I have neglected to send out e-newsletters these past couple of months. So be sure to check out my schedule below of future art shows.
I hope to see you at the Summer Stampede next week in Lubbock, TX...it's going to be a blast. And later in the summer in August at AQHA: America's Horse in Art.
